Get Keisei Hot

Keisei Tominaga was one of the best stories in all of college basketball last year. He went on a crazy run last year that sparked the Huskers to their successful February. All Husker fans were excited about where this season could go when the guard announced he was coming back for his final year in Lincoln. Then there was the ankle sprain that he suffered in the exhibition game which sidelined him for the first two games. The star guard is getting back to game speed, but he has been improving every time out.

Anyone not familiar with Tominaga’s game, let me fill you in. He is nicknamed the Japanese Steph Curry. He has the ultimate green light and will shoot the ball from wherever he is on the floor. The other thing that he does so well is backcuts to the basket. He has perfected that crucial piece of the Huskers offense and his offensive game grows a lot when he is a threat to make those shots from deep. Lately, he has been much better and shooting at a much higher percentage, but he is still not all the way back to game shape.

Coach Hoiberg said that the Huskers needed to get Keisei hot and keep him hot for the offense to reach its full potential. That is saying something considering that Nebraska is on pace for their best offense under Hoiberg. If you look into the numbers deeper though the three-point shooting is not where coach Hoiberg wants it to be or expects it to be. The guard is a huge part of that. Once he starts rolling the team can really take off. Tominaga looked much better against Oregon State and was starting to make his threes. It looks like he is ready to take off and play like the preseason All-Big Ten selection that he is. If he gets going against Duquesne, offense for the Huskers is going to come much easier and it will open the lane up for the easy baskets in the paint. The guard is ready to take off and it is going to happen soon.
