Creighton Basketball: 3 keys to Bluejays taking down Oklahoma State
By John Makuch
1. Don’t just win, win by a lot
The Blue Jays have something to prove now after a tough loss against an opponent that was not ranked at the time. This was the No. 8 team in the nation that has now fallen all the way to 15, and now they are playing catch up with the teams above them. Colorado State is now a blemish on their resume, and they will need to clear that up as much as possible over their next stretch, starting with Oklahoma State.
Creighton has the benefit of still being a top-15 team, but if they only win close here, the voters will be much less inclined to move them back up the ranks in the next poll. With a team that scored as well as they did in their previous games, they need to show these voters that they can still dominate and contend at a national level.
The big thing here is to figure out if this was just an off night for the Blue Jays, or if there should be a level of concern. This team had not played opponents close in their non-conference slate, so the reverse happening to them was a huge shocker. But again, every good team has an off night, but great teams rebound even stronger after a night like that.
Whether one player takes charge and carries this team to a large margin of victory, or the whole team comes out strong, they need to find a way to get back to the dominance they showed earlier in the year against an opponent like this.
