Even though we’re less than a month into the actual games, we’ve already had a number of intriguing moments and storylines in this young NCAA basketball season. We spent months making predictions and other analysis about these teams, but what does that all mean in the end? It all boils down to how these players perform on the court and there’s been plenty of performing in the opening weeks.

The calendar has only recently turned to December, opening what is certainly the quietest month of college basketball. The holiday tournaments and their excitement has finished, with regular conference play not beginning for most leagues until after New Year’s. There have been a few of those league matchups this past week and in the near future, but December is relatively tame compared to the other months in this sport.

November gave us plenty to think about, with expectations met, surprises all around, and several teams struggling out of the gate. No season is made or destroyed with just the opening month of games, though it’s clearly important to get the season off to a solid start. Even with Selection Sunday more than three months away, teams are already building their resumes and setting themselves up well for the postseason and beyond

For now, we’re interested in those teams that have stood out and will be presenting our updated Top 25 rankings. This past week of games didn’t involve holiday tournaments but did see some amazing performances and unexpected results. There are fewer and fewer unbeaten teams and were some very intriguing road tests for some of the nation’s elite teams last week. Without further ado, let’s begin our examination into the current selection of top teams in the country.
