Florida Atlantic Owls

As time continues to move on, that home loss to Bryant stinks less and less. This past week, the Owls concluded the ESPN Events Invitational with a dominant win over Virginia Tech. They followed that up with a pair of impressive home wins in the Field of 68 Tip-Off, beating Liberty and College of Charleston.

Those are two of the better mid-major programs in NCAA Basketball and should go on runs in their respective conferences. The blowout margins from these games (85 pt win margin) will also boost their analytics and have already made up for the loss to Bryant. Overall, they’ve proven to be a top-15 caliber team and not a fluke from a year ago.

Butler Bulldogs

One of the wins FAU has is over Butler in the ESPN Events Invitational. And that win has already looked better, as the Bulldogs themselves are overachieving as a team. They beat Boise State last Sunday in that MTE, likely to be a Quad 2 neutral site win.

Butler then followed that up with a home win over Texas Tech in overtime, 103-95. Jahmyl Telfort had 26 pts in the win, while guard Posh Alexander produced a triple-double. The Red Raiders aren’t an elite team but they’re a solid win for a program that’s looking to build a resume slowly but surely. With just Michigan State and FAU being the lone losses for the Bulldogs, they’ve put themselves to be in the mix before Big East play.
