Seton Hall Basketball: 3 keys for Pirates to upset Baylor in Waco
By John Makuch
1. Avoid a slow start at all costs
Seton Hall has been plagued by slow starts in just about every game this season, and if that happens against a team like Baylor this will be over in a hurry. Baylor is a team that will make you pay for every mistake you make, and if they are early on in the game you most likely will give up too much momentum to come back.
When you are trying to pull off an upset like this, you have to prevent the favorite from being in control of the game as much as possible. This is where Seton Hall can get off to an early start, put pressure on Baylor, and find their offensive groove.
This is where you to Dawes for an early three, or use Richmond’s size to either get him a bucket or a simply pick and roll with Bediako. Basketball is obviously a game of runs, but Seton Hall needs one early. They need to take the crowd out early by getting their stars to work, and the game can get a bit more in their control.
At the end of the day, Seton Hall is not expected to win this game, but this team has to do all they can to stay in it. This is a game that will either harden this team and humble them before conference play or provide them with a great boost after an upset victory. Either way, they need to bring their best performance to Waco, which comes down to Holloway getting these guys ready for the test.
