UConn’s 1st loss, Creighton’s bounce back among latest Big East Basketball storylines

4. Creighton is back folks
On the flip side of Villanova, Creighton has rebounded well after a tough loss of their own. The Blue Jays had previously lost to Colorado State in a blowout, but this week they stomped out both Oklahoma State and Nebraska in their own gyms.
Baylor Scheierman put together at least 20 points in both of those games, and the stars of this team have gotten back to their usual selves. Ryan Kalkbrenner has been his dominant self inside with double-doubles in both games. Trey Alexander and Steven Ashworth have also scored in double figures in these games, and the team has just looked so much better since that loss to the Rams.
The question following the Colorado State loss was whether Colorado State was just really good, or if Creighton had a lot to worry about. Turns out, this was a loss that teams at the top need to get humbled early in the season, and Colorado State is just really good at basketball.
Now for Creighton, it is all about consistency before Big East play begins, and they have some matchups they can very much win coming up. They have three games remaining in their nonconference slate, with Central Michigan and UNLV up next, followed by a currently ranked Alabama to close it out. If they can come out of that slate 3-0, then the Colorado State loss will be nothing to worry about. The Blue Jays have now proved they are still a force to be reckoned with in this Big East Conference.
