Seton Hall Basketball: 3 takeaways from crushing loss to Baylor
By John Makuch
Seton Hall Basketball fell to the No. 9 Baylor Bears in Waco 78-60 in a crushing defeat. This would have been one of the more major upsets in the nation if Seton Hall was able to come away with the victory, but losing by double digits leaves not much to take away in terms of moral victories.
The Pirates did not get much out of their shooters, nor did they take a ton of shots from three-point land. Seton Hall only made four threes out of 13, attempts, while they shot 42.6 percent from the field.
Baylor had a great game shooting, they made 50.9 percent of their shots from the field with 45.5 percent of their makes going in from behind the arc. Guard RayJ Dennis led the way for the Bears with 17 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. They also got great nights from Yves Missi and Ja’Kobe Walker who put up 13 and 15 points respectively. Missi also put up eight rebounds in a near double-double for this Baylor team.
The stars showed out for Baylor, but the Pirates’ did not in the way they needed to to beat one of the best teams in the nation. When you have a game against your biggest rival, Rutgers, you want to get a strong performance in beforehand, but the Pirates did not get that.
Now they head closer and closer to .500 after a 4-0 start, and they have to take some lessons away from this tough loss to a Big 12 opponent, similar to most other Big East teams this season.
