Bracketology 2024: Is BYU, Clemson, Butler, and Colorado State better than expected?
Colorado State Rams 9-0
The reigning national runner-up may reside in the Mountain West, but right now the best team in that conference resides in Fort Collins, Colorado. The No. 13th-ranked Rams are now 9-0 after beating Denver last time out. Colorado State has failed to score 80 points just once this season and that was in their 21-point blowout of No. 8 Creighton.
Isaiah Stevens is one of the best point guards in the country. He dishes out eight assists per game and has 1.4 steals, in fact, as a team, the Rams have 6.7 thefts per contest. But Niko Medved’s team doesn’t just rely on Stevens, the senior duo of Joel Scott and Nique Clifford have combined for 26.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
The Rams are one of the most efficient teams in the country on offense, ranking 6th in that category on KenPom. They also are 2nd in the nation in effective field goal percentage and 3rd in two-point field-goal percentage at 62.8%. In addition to that big win over Creighton, Colorado State has another four quad 2 wins, two of which have come on a neutral floor.
They have two big games against WCC teams Saint Mary’s and Loyola Marymount before beginning league play at home against New Mexico and on the road at Utah State and Boise State. The Rams have a chance to be sitting pretty once Mountain West play begins.
