NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga, BYU falls, and Virginia rises in latest top-25 power ranking
1. Arizona Wildcats – 8-0
After a dominant blowout win over Colgate last weekend, Arizona took on a ranked Wisconsin team that tried to put on a competitive effort in the beginning. However, the Pac-12 team made a giant run to take a 17-point lead into the halftime break.
The Wildcats scored another 50 points in the second half to run away with a 98-73 victory to remain unbeaten. All five starters were in double figures, led by 21 pts from Pelle Larsson, who was a perfect 6/6 from the field and 4/4 from deep. Caleb Love had 20 points and 7 rebs, while Kylan Boswell, Oumar Ballo, and Keshad Johnson were either a rebound or assist shy of individual double-doubles.
This is the third-ranked win for Arizona on the year, adding to the previous Duke and Michigan State victories. There are only eight unbeaten teams left in NCAA Basketball and Arizona reigns supreme but how long can it last?
We’ll find out next weekend, as the Wildcats will take on Purdue in one of the biggest battle of the season. Ballo will have his hands full with Zach Edey, while the backcourt battle could ultimately decide the outcome of the game.
