19. Clemson Tigers – 9-0 (1-0)

Coming off wins over Alabama and Pittsburgh on the road, Clemson found itself both ranked and unbeaten entering the week. But their next two games were against teams without a loss in South Carolina and TCU, two programs that folks were questioning how good they were.

The first opponent was the Gamecocks in a rivalry matchup at home. It was a close game throughout, with South Carolina looking to make it two straight years with an upset. In the end, Clemson was able to pull out the 72-67 win, with all five starters in double figures. Forward Ian Schieffelin was the MVP of the game statistically, producing 12 pts and 12 rebs.

The game against TCU went similarly, with the game fairly close throughout as well. But again, the veteran Tigers made enough plays late to stay unbeaten, winning 74-66. Joe Girard had 21 points and four assists, while PJ Hall had 17 points. Schieffelin had another nice game with 14 pts, 9 rebs, and 5 asts.

Not only is Clemson still unbeaten with some good resume wins, but they have also avoided the dreaded Quad 4 bad losses that ultimately doomed them a year ago. They have a chance for another Quad 1 victory to solidify their great start to the season, taking on Memphis on the road.
