Marquette’s dominance, In-state showdowns among Big East storylines for the week
By John Makuch
The Big East-Big 12 Battle has concluded, December has started to roll in, and conference play is right on the horizon. This is where the stakes begin to get a bit higher for the Big East because it only gets harder from here. These teams were playing some of their final opportunities to pick up wins before the grueling schedule of the Big East comes in, and some teams took advantage, and others could not.
There were overtime matchups, in-state showdowns, and the yearly battle against the Big 12. Some teams found themselves exceeding expectations, and in other places, disappointment clouds their programs at the moment. Some teams have opportunities left to get right and tune-up before conference play begins, but others still have a tough non-conference slate ahead of them.
This is what the Big East Conference provides, you never truly know where each team is going to end up, and how competitive they are against the rest of the nation. After this week, the Big East finds itself again in the upper echelon of conferences with five teams at eight wins or over.
More teams than before may be getting votes in the AP Top 25, and this conference is shaking up to have a lot of bids once March rolls around. There is still more left to go, but this is looking to be a great time to be a fan of the Big East Conference, so here are some of those storylines that shake up these 11 teams.
