The 2025 NBA Draft saw chaos during the first 10 selections.
The Utah Jazz selected a player who does not want to be there. The Brooklyn Nets took a massive reach at eight. The Phoenix Suns drafted a center just to trade for a center a couple of seconds later.
Excitement has ensued at the draft. This is our live reaction to the first ten picks.
1. Dallas Mavericks: Cooper Flagg
Latif Love: A+
This pick and its grade were decided over a year and a half ago. Whichever franchise was blessed with Cooper Flagg would automatically receive an A+.
Flagg is the youngest prospect in the draft, yet he was the best player in the country. Despite his age, he is arguably the most well-rounded prospect since Lebron James. Flagg answered questions about his jumpshot this season, but he can still improve his handle and finishing through contact.
Flagg will have the opportunity to be drafted by a team with quality players and veterans that he can learn from and coexist with. He should have an impact on day one.
Joey LeMaster: A+
How could this not be an A+?
Reclassifying to the class of 2025, Cooper Flagg proved he was ready for the bright lights, winning the Naismith College Player of the Year award. There is no weakness in Flagg’s game. The biggest question regarding Flagg’s game was his three-point shot. He responded to the criticism by shooting 38.5% from deep.
Flagg is a defensive mastermind now playing next to Anthony Davis. This duo may be the best defensive frontcourt in the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks, who lucked into one of the greatest prospects ever, will have high expectations heading into the 2025-26 season.
