4. Charlotte Hornets: Kon Knueppel
Latif Love: A+
Kon Knueppel will get stereotyped as just another white guy who can shoot, but he is much more than that. He’s not particularly flashy or exciting to watch for most people, but he's a very impactful player due to his ability to process the game at a high level.
He’s not a good athlete, but he wastes no movement with his dribbles, makes smart passes out of the pick-and-roll and knocks down threes on and off of the ball. He understands leverage and plays well off of two feet.
The Hornets have had a rough drafting history in the 21st century, but Knueppel looks to be a step in the right direction.
Joey LeMaster: A+
Drafting a player who may be a star one day is cool. But drafting an elite role player who is going to make an instant impact on day one is huge. That is not something the Charlotte Hornets tend to do. They did it this time with Kon Knueppel.
The wing from Duke is the best catch-and-shoot player in the draft. This will complement LaMelo Ball, something he has desperately needed.
He may not be the most athletic, yet he is a genius. He makes the right passes on offense and plays the appropriate help defense.
The Hornets are full of exciting players, such as Ball andBrandon Miller. Charlotte now has a smart leader who will help the Hornets win games.
