9. Toronto Raptors: Collin Murray-Boyles
Latif Love: B
Murray-Boyles is the best defender in the draft. He wreaks tons of plays, has good positioning and upper body strength. His feel for the game on both ends is impeccable. He produced efficiently on a terrible team and played well against top competition.
The pick gets a B because I am not a big fan of the fit around him. I would have loved for him to go to a team with a spacing four or five because of his lack of shooting prowess. Nevertheless, Murray-Boyles will be able to impact the Raptors' defense immediately and add another playmaker to their offense.
Joey LeMaster: A-
I have not hidden the fact that I’m a massive Collin Murray-Boyles fan. He is the second-best defender in this draft behind Flagg.
He has never skipped a day in the gym. His massive muscles have allowed him to body defenders in the paint and score in the paint.
His pairing next to Scottie Barnes is intriguing. Teams will not score on the perimeter against this team. However, neither Barnes nor Murray-Boyles can shoot the ball well. Murray-Boyles must improve as a shooter for this selection to make sense.
If the Toronto Raptors surround these guys with shooters, they will have an elite team in Toronto.
