6'8 forward Lazar Milosevic provides needed depth/spacing in Duquesne's frontcourt

Earlier in the offseason, Duquesne Basketball's first transfer portal pickups were in the frontcourt: centers John Hugley (Xavier) and Stef van Bussel (Charleston). In the weeks since, the team has focused on the backcourt, landing guards Jimmie Williams (South Florida) and Tarence Guinyard (UT-Martin) and getting Maximus Edwards to return after originally entering the portal.

This brought the Dukes to 12 scholarship players, including incoming freshmen and those returning from injury. Of all the traditional positions, the one that has the most question marks is at power forward. Jahsean Corbett, the team’s primary four-man a year ago, ran out of eligibility. And Alex Williams, the 6’6 forward transfer from Furman, missed all of last season with a lower leg injury.

Duquesne looked to fill the void in the frontcourt with one more addition.

Lazar Milosevic is a 6’8 Serbian forward who played this past year for OKK Spars Sarajevo in the Bosnian BiH Liga League. In his first year with extended playing time, Milosevic averaged 12.1 ppg and 4.6 rpg, shooting 40% from three-point range on nearly five attempts a game. He had a trio of 25-point outings, including going 5/7 from deep against KK Mladost.

Milosevic either gets to the basket or pops out for a three, which should make him a good fit with lineups including Hugley inside. He’s not much of a defensive standout but the soon-to-be 21-year old should give the Dukes needed offense inside.

The addition of Milosevic gives Duquesne 13 scholarship players, likely ending the roster transactions this offseason. Whether he ultimately comes into the rotation next year as a true freshman remains to be seen but the Dukes have clearly looked into adding as much offensive potential to the roster as possible to make a run into top-tier status in the Atlantic 10 in 2026.
