Andy Enfield

The task is finding the next leader for this program and Enfield scratches several itches that the search committee might have. He has a lot of relevant head coaching experience, both at the power conference level and actually in the state of Florida. Additionally, he’s someone with direct connections to Florida State, having served on Hamilton’s staff nearly two decades ago.

A former NBA shooting coach, Enfield’s first collegiate experience came when Hamilton hired him as an assistant back in 2006. Five years later, his head coaching journey began with Florida Gulf Coast and few have forgotten how Dunk City captivated the nation in 2013 as a 15-seed in the Big Dance. Enfield then spent 11 years building success at USC, including an Elite Eight, before bolting for SMU this past offseason.

While things got stale on the West Coast for Enfield, he’s still considered a solid coach and recruiter who could bring greatness back to Florida State. He was part of some of that early success for Hamilton with the Seminoles, plus he’s having a pretty solid year himself in the ACC, as he’s ushered the Mustangs into this conference. It’s all of a matter not only of mutual interest but if Enfield can be pried away after just a single season at SMU.
