The movements throughout the college basketball transfer portal have changed the rosters everywhere. The new moves caused some incoming freshmen to look at other options, de-committing. That includes Acaden Lewis, a 6’2 point guard prospect from Washington, DC. He’s a talented ball-handler with a good offensive game, known for being one of the top playmakers in the 2025 recruiting class.

Originally committed to Kentucky, Lewis is one of the top free agents out of high school. He’s reportedly visited three schools in the past couple of weeks, with one more coming before a looming decision.

Here’s a closer look at how he’d fit with them from a roster standpoint.

Georgia

The Bulldogs saw their starting point guard, Silas Demary Jr., leave for UConn via the portal. The two transfer pickups were Justin Bailey (Wofford) and Jeremiah Wilkerson (Cal), two capable shooters and scorers but not necessarily ball distributors. Lewis can find a role early on and may start if they opt to run a three-guard lineup with returning guard Blue Cain.

Miami

New HC Jai Lucas has been rebuilding from scratch with the Hurricanes, including landing transfer guards, Tre Donaldson (Michigan) and Tru Washington (New Mexico). There’s still a need for another ball-handler, and Lewis may be the only true PG on the roster if he were to join. The question for him is whether he will put his trust into a new HC or pick one of the veterans in the mix.

St. John’s

The Red Storm was one of the first teams in high pursuit of Lewis, having a significant need at PG after losing both Deivion Smith and Kadary Richmond. However, Coach Rick Pitino himself said that incoming UNC guard transfer Ian Jackson would get the chance to run the point for them next season. They still need another ball-handler on the roster, but Lewis would have to settle for a spot off the bench at first.

Villanova

New HC Kevin Willard couldn’t get either starting guard to transfer with him from Maryland. Still, he landed James Madison transfer Bryce Lindsay, former Maryland commit and 4-star prospect, Chris Jeffrey. With no proven high-major ball-handler on the roster, Lewis could make a push to be a lead guard for the program and play in the Big East.
