12. Boston College Eagles - 6-3
The Eagles have one of the best wins of any ACC Basketball team, beating Boise State to win the Cayman Islands Classic. Unfortunately, they followed it up with a shocking home loss to Dartmouth before getting blown out by South Carolina in the SEC/ACC Challenge.
Boston College isn’t going to win a lot of games on the offensive end. Sophomore guard Donald Hand (13.7 ppg) has emerged as a leading option, with both Chad Venning and Elijah Strong also averaging double figures. But they’ll need to find more production to be more competitive in league play.
11. Wake Forest Demon Deacons - 7-3
Wake Forest doesn’t have a bad resume, has no bad losses, and has a good win over Michigan. But anyone who has watched them knows they’re not the team with postseason aspirations, with one of the worst offenses in the ACC.
Hunter Sallis (17.0 ppg) is scoring well but is less efficient than last year, while only two other players (Cameron Hildreth and Tre’Von Spillers) are scoring more than 8.0 ppg on the season. The foot injury to ISU transfer Omaha Biliew has hurt the frontcourt, with the overall transfer class underachieving. They’ll be a non-factor in the ACC if the offense doesn't improve.
