For the past couple of years, ACC Basketball has been struggling overall, with only its top teams making the NCAA Tournament. Before this past season, the ACC had combined for nine teams making the Big Dance in the previous two years. However, 2026 proved to be a bounce-back year for the league, with eight programs making the postseason, while all three of its newcomers (Cal, SMU, Stanford) had at least 8 league wins.

So far this offseason, there have been a few coaching changes, along with the usual massive roster overhauls. Which teams are ready to compete next year and who is still rebuilding? Here’s the latest look at where each ACC Basketball team stands.

18. Stanford Cardinal

2025-26 record: 20-13 (9-9)

Likely departures

  • Ebuka Okorie (23.2 ppg and 3.6 apg)
  • Benny Gealer (10.9 ppg and 2.5 rpg)
  • Jeremy Dent-Smith (8.2 ppg and 1.5 apg)
  • AJ Rohosy (7.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg)
  • Chiston Okpara (13.9 ppg and 3.9 rpg)
  • Ryan Agarwal (5.9 ppg and 4.1 rpg)
  • Oskar Giltay (3.3 ppg and 4.1 rpg)

Likely returnees

  • Aidan Cammann (6.5 ppg and 3.8 rpg)
  • Donavin Young (2.5 ppg and 2.7 rpg)

Roster additions

  • Austin Maurer (7.2 ppg and 4.7 rpg at Seattle)
  • Aziz Olajuwon (4-star wing prospect)
  • Julius Price (4-star guard prospect)
  • Elias Obenyah (4-star guard prospect)

The most consequential NBA Draft decision in the ACC was with Stanford, with freshman star Okorie electing to leave the Cardinal. It’s going to be a fatal move for the program, losing over 95% of its production from last year. Cammann could be a breakout performer as the lone key rotation piece and Coach Kyle Smith earns the benefit of the doubt.

But the current reality is that the roster doesn’t have any proven talent. They’ll need multiple incoming freshmen to break out to even have a chance but due to the high admissions standards, Stanford’s path to being competitive is a far uphill climb.
