Of the five double-digit scorers on last season’s roster, arguably, the two best players are back. Hansberry led the team in both scoring and rebounding, while Hammond shot 43% from three-point range. Copeland, another sharpshooter, and Curry add to the backcourt depth.
Replacing the athletic and defensive-minded Lawal will be difficult for the Hokies. Atak could be a breakout candidate after showing flashes at Oklahoma, while Heide is a good defender from his days with the Aztecs. It’s a roster that lacks high-end talent but has enough depth for another middle-tier finish.
