After a full week of league action, every team in ACC Basketball has played at least three games against one another. That has resulted in plenty of intriguing results, with only three teams having either zero losses or zero wins.
So that helps figure out the top and bottom of who should be where in the power rankings. But who among the middle 12 stands out as a potential ACC contender, and who should be viewed as pretenders? Here’s the latest outlook of the league in this latest ranking.
18. Miami Hurricanes - 4-10 (0-3)
From a talent standpoint, the Hurricanes should be in the top-5 range. But from day 1, this roster just never clicked. And everything has completely fallen off the rails, with head coach Jim Larranaga suddenly retiring and leaving midway through the season.
And there wasn’t a bounce from the team after the coaching change, having lost the last two games at Virginia Tech and Boston College. The Hurricanes had double-digit leads in both games but ultimately gave them up to the arguably least talented teams in the league.
If there are any kind of bright sides, Matthew Cleveland (21 points vs VT) is playing his best ball, while former 5-star prospect Jalil Bethea is back in the rotation. However, with Nijel Pack still out with an injury, Miami may be without its best player for the season.
The Hurricanes are back at home this week, taking on Florida State and Wake Forest. This is still a team that has talent, so they could play spoiler going forward, but based on results, they’re clearly the worst team in the ACC.
