15. Boston College Eagles - 9-6 (1-3)

The early signs that the Eagles can be competitive have slowly started to go away, with several blowouts on the resume. They got destroyed by 22 points at home to South Carolina, 26 at home to SMU, and are coming off a 21-point setback to Georgia Tech.

The one recent bright spot for them was at home against lowly Miami. Like with Virginia Tech, the Eagles were down by 10+ but were able to come back and win 78-68, thanks to 49 points in the second half. All five starters scored in double figures, led by 17 points and five rebounds from Chad Venning, while Fred Payne chipped in with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

On the season, only three Boston College players are scoring more than 7.0 ppg. Donald Hand leads them with 14.3 ppg and 7.4 rpg, while Venning (12.3 ppg) and Elijah Strong (10.8 ppg and 4.9 rpg) are the other contributors. One issue the team has had is the lack of scoring production from two key offseason transfers (Dion Brown and Roger McFarland), who are combining to produce around 12 ppg in the rotation.

Boston College’s backcourt will be tested in the next week, as they take on Syracuse and Notre Dame. Both teams recently got their respective lead guards back so will be at full strength.
