ACC Power Rankings: Duke in Control as the Race Tightens at the Halfway Mark

With the ACC season nearing its midpoint, separation is beginning to form at the top while the middle of the league remains crowded. Duke and Virginia continue to set the pace, Clemson is firmly in the hunt, and nearly everyone else is fighting for positioning as January winds down.

We are nearing the halfway point of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season. As we move along, the standings are beginning to take shape. There are two teams at the top of the league, with just one remaining unbeaten in conference play, while several teams are jostling for position in the middle of the standings.

Here are the latest ACC power rankings for all 18 teams, as of games played Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

18. Pittsburgh Panthers (8–11, NET: 120)

It has not gone well for Pittsburgh in 2026. The Panthers have dropped five of their last six games, with the lone win during that stretch coming on the road at Georgia Tech. Since that victory, Pittsburgh allowed 100 points in a loss to Louisville and scored just 62 points in a loss at Boston College.

The Panthers are tied with two other teams with just a single ACC win. Pittsburgh is at home Saturday against NC State, then hosts Wake Forest. The final January game is scheduled for January 31 at Clemson.

17. Boston College Eagles (9–10, NET: 157)

This is not a very good basketball team, but Boston College has won two straight games with victories over Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Those wins snapped a four-game losing streak.

The Eagles are scoring 68.4 points per game while allowing 68.2 points per game. Up next is a road game at Notre Dame on Saturday, followed by a home matchup against Virginia on January 31.

16. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10–9, NET: 81)

Notre Dame has struggled mightily, losing six of its last seven games. The lone January win came on the road at Stanford, where the Irish allowed just 40 points.

Jalen Haralson leads Notre Dame with 14.6 points per game. As a team, the Irish are scoring 73.2 points per game, ranking 300th nationally. Notre Dame hosts Boston College on Saturday, welcomes Virginia on January 27, and closes January at Syracuse on the 31st.

15. Florida State Seminoles (8–11, NET: 116)

Florida State is 1–5 in conference play, with its lone win coming in the most recent outing against Miami. The Seminoles opened January with losses to North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Syracuse, and Wake Forest.

Defense has been a major issue, as Florida State is allowing more than 81 points per game. The Seminoles play at SMU on Saturday before hosting California and Stanford to close the month.

14. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (11–8, NET: 142)

Georgia Tech sits at 11–8 overall and 2–4 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets’ biggest win of the season came on the road at NC State.

Kowacie Reeves Jr. leads the team with 16.1 points per game, while Lamar Washington adds 11.8 points per game. Georgia Tech hosts Clemson on Saturday before heading to Virginia Tech on Tuesday.

13. Syracuse Orange (12–7, NET: 75)

Syracuse remains difficult to evaluate. The Orange won three straight games with road victories at Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh, followed by a home win over Florida State.

Since then, Syracuse lost by eight at Boston College and followed that with a home loss to Virginia Tech, leaving the Orange at 3–3 in ACC play. Syracuse hosts Miami on Saturday before traveling to NC State on Tuesday.

12. California Golden Bears (14–5, NET: 60)

California checks in at No. 60 in the latest NET rankings. The Bears have lost four of their last six games, with defeats coming against Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Duke.

The highlight win remains a home victory over North Carolina. California now heads on the road, starting at Stanford, followed by trips to Florida State and Miami to close January.

11. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (11–8, NET: 65)

Wake Forest has dropped five of its last seven games. The Demon Deacons lost to Vanderbilt before the new year and have gone 2–4 in conference play since.

Their wins during that stretch came at home against Virginia Tech and on the road at Florida State. Juke Harris leads Wake Forest with 20.5 points per game while shooting nearly 46.5 percent from the field. Wake Forest plays at Duke on January 24, at Pittsburgh on January 27, and hosts NC State to end the month.

10. Virginia Tech Hokies (15–5, NET: 49)

Virginia Tech has won back-to-back games and moved into the top 50 of the NET rankings. The Hokies picked up a home win over Notre Dame and a road win at Syracuse.

Before that, they lost three of four games to Wake Forest, Stanford, and SMU. Amani Hansberry leads the team with 15.5 points per game while shooting nearly 51 percent. Virginia Tech plays at Louisville on Saturday, then hosts Georgia Tech and Duke.

9. Stanford Cardinal (14–5, NET: 67)

Stanford sits at 14–5 but ranks 67th in the NET. The Cardinal are coming off a rough home loss to Duke, falling by 30 points, just days after a home win over North Carolina.

The toughest stretch of the schedule is complete, starting with a home game against California. Stanford then heads to Florida to face Miami and Florida State in a pair of games that could significantly shape its resume.
