The season is starting to wind down but there are some big time games on the last Wednesday of the regular season. Here is a preview with some predictions for the best games of the day.

No. 13 Maryland at No. 17 Michigan prediction and pick

Maryland is the one team to keep an eye on heading into the Big Ten tournament and the NCAA tournament. The Terrapins can beat you in a lot of ways. They have two of the best big men in the country and when you couple that with their guards who can all shoot, score, and defend. Maryland becomes one of the most dangerous teams in the country. Their last three losses have all been at the buzzer. Maryland travels to Michigan with the 2 seed in the Big Ten tournament still in their sights.

Michigan has won a lot of one-possession games. However, they most recently got destroyed by Illinois at the Crisler Center. They now get a matchup with a Maryland team that Michigan matches up well with. The Wolverines will rely on their big men, Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin, who will be able to neutralize the big men for Maryland. Michigan is going to have to make threes to win this game but it is probably going to be close again.

No. 5 Florida at No. 7 Alabama prediction and pick

What do you know? Another top-10 SEC matchup. This is something that SEC fans have grown accustomed to this season. This matchup might be one of the highest-scoring games we have had all season as well. I know you have all heard that before when it comes to the SEC. The Gators have a deep roster filled with shooters who can score from everywhere and big men who can shoot, rebound, and protect the rim. The Gators love to run and can light up a scoreboard when they get hot.

Alabama is the highest-scoring team in the country and plays at one of the fastest paces in the country. They love to run and don’t need the shot clock. If you have been following along this year, you would know that Alabama shoots a ton of threes, gets open looks in the paint because of their pace of play, and gets to the free-throw line a lot. The Crimson Tide are a thing of beauty on the offensive end; if only they played defense, they would likely be one of the most dominant teams ever. The lack of defense by Alabama is why this game is going to be extremely high-scoring.

No. 20 Marquette at UConn prediction and pick

Marquette is one of the best teams in the Big East but did struggle a little bit in early February. Marquette is back to playing like one of the best teams in the Big East. Marquette plays extremely fast, and when they get out in transition, they are impossible to stop. The Golden Eagles have the player of the year in the Big East in Kam Jones, and he is a do-everything guard for Marquette. The Golden Eagles are currently in second place in the Big East but still need to win games to clinch that spot and try to win as many games as possible to include their seeding for the NCAA tournament.

UConn is the two-time defending national champions and is now finally starting to play like it towards the end of the year. The Huskies have not been great on the defensive side of the ball this year, and that has led to almost all of their losses. UConn has some noticeable issues mainly at the guard position. The point guards have not been nearly good enough a lot of nights and it could lead to their early exit in the NCAA tournament. Marquette is better than UConn and will likely win this game, but it is extremely hard to win in Gampel.

Here are the rest of the games from a championship week Wednesday.
