14. St. John’s Red Storm - 19-3 (10-1 Big East)
The Red Storm had won six straight games coming into the past week, taking on two teams in the middle of the Big East standings. The first matchup was at Georgetown, who had a strong start to league play but had been struggling as of late.
St. John’s didn’t help the momentum from changing for the Hoyas, holding them to just 41 points in a 25-point blowout win. Four players had 10+ points for the Red Storm, led by Kadary Richmond and Zuby Ejifor with 13 each.
The next game was at home against Providence, a matchup at the Red Storm was in complete control of. They were up by as much as 19 points before surrendering it completely, tied in the final seconds. But thanks to a last-second bucket by Richmond, St. John’s survived with the 68-66 win. Richmond had 24 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while RJ Luis went for 19 points and eight rebounds.
St. John’s is now in first place in the Big East standings. But their two toughest tests of the season are up next. They take on Marquette at home on Tuesday, followed by a road battle at Uconn on Friday night.
