12. Texas A&M Aggies - 17-5 (6-3 SEC)
After last week’s collapse at Texas, it was interesting to see how the Aggies would bounce back. Their first opponent was at home against Oklahoma, a game that was fairly close for most of the 40-minute battle. In the end, Texas A&M prevailed, 75-68.
It was a balanced effort, with all five starters in double-digits. Zurich Phelps had 15 points, while forward Pharrel Payne had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Andersson Garcia had 12 rebounds off the bench and was one point shy of a double-double.
The next game for the Aggies was on the road at South Carolina, who was still winless in SEC play. Texas A&M was up by eight at halftime but the Gamecocks managed to keep it close late. It wasn’t enough, with the road team winning 76-72. Wade Taylor, who has been saddled with injuries these last few weeks, broke out with 25 points, making 7/10 from three-point range.
The next game for Texas A&M was at Missouri, which will be another ranked SEC matchup. After that is a home matchup with a Georgia squad, who should be desperate for a resume-building win.
