3. Alabama Crimson Tide - 19-3 (8-1 SEC)
The Crimson Tide had a key road battle at Mississippi State, which quietly was ranked in the top 15 of the last AP poll. The game was played at Bama’s pace, which ended up being a shootout. The Tide was able to hold on for the 88-84 victory, led by 23 points from Chris Youngblood, along with 17 points and nine assists from Mark Sears, along with 15 points from Grant Nelson.
The next game was at home against the Georgia Bulldogs. It was a game that started out slow, with the Tide having a 39-28 halftime lead. However, the offense for Bama couldn’t be held down for long, scoring 51 points in the final 20 minutes to coast to a 90-69 victory.
Five players finished in double figures for Alabama. Sears finished with 20 points and six assists, while Nelson had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Aiden Sherrell and Aden Holloway each had 10+ points off the bench in another strong team output on offense.
Alabama is now on the road for the next couple of games. Up first is an Arkansas team riding high from its big win at Kentucky. Following that, the Tide is at Texas, who’ll be looking for a signature victory.
