18. Maryland Terrapins - 17-5 (7-4 Big Ten)
After the big road win at Illinois, there was a chance that Maryland could be due for a letdown. It almost happened on the road at Indiana, where they had a hard-fought battle for 40 minutes. But in the end, the road team won the 79-78 victory.
Rodney Rice was the hero for the Terrapins, scoring 23 points on 5/7 shooting from deep, including the last three for the win. Ja’Kobi Gillespie had 18 points and nine assists, while Julian Reese and Derik Queen combined for 21 points and 21 rebounds.
The next game was at home against Wisconsin. It was also a close game throughout before the Terrapins made a late run to pull ahead for the 76-68 victory. It was a balanced effort this time around, with Gillespie and Rice each scoring 16 points, while Queen produced 12 points and 12 rebounds. Selton Miguel made all four three-point shots in the game as well.
Maryland has now won four straight games and is moving up the Big Ten ladder. They’re back on the road next, taking on Ohio State, a team they’ve already beaten by 24 points at home. After that is a home matchup with Rutgers, who is looking for a key road win to bolster its resume.
