17. Arizona Wildcats - 15-6 (9-1 Big 12)
A team might not have found itself in the headlines more for its two games than Arizona. It started out on Monday, with the Wildcats taking on No. 3 Iowa State. They led for most of the game and trailed late before a Caleb Love miracle three-pointer beyond halfcourt sent the game into OT.
In the extra five minutes, Arizona dominated. They pulled off the 86-75 upset win, led by 22 points from Love. Forward Tobe Awaka had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while both Carter Bryant and KJ Lewis each had 14 off the bench.
In the next game, the Wildcats faced rival Arizona State. It turned into a testy game that ended with ejections and a refusal for a handshake line, yet Arizona got the 81-72 victory. Love finished with 27 points before he was ejected himself, while Jaden Bradley had 14 points.
Most importantly, Arizona now finds itself tied for first place in the Big 12 standings with the Houston Cougars. After a rough non-con, the Wildcats are looking like the preseason Final Four contender, thanks to emerging depth and Love playing at the level we’re used to seeing him at. They remain on the road on Tuesday to take on BYU, followed by a home game against Texas Tech, two teams who are at the top of the standings after a strong past week.
