Schedule Outlook

There are a lot of moving pieces in this new-look rotation, and luckily the Razorbacks have a relatively easy start to their season. Five of their first six games this season are home dates with mid-majors, though the lone exception is an early challenge, as the Razorbacks head to Dallas to play Baylor on November 9th.

Arkansas isn’t part of a holiday tournament, but will find an intriguing challenge waiting for them on Thanksgiving. They’ll head to Kansas City, playing Illinois on CBS’s Thanksgiving Day Game. Five days later, their first road contest sees them head to Miami, playing the Hurricanes as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge.

A few more mid-major contests dot the schedule, though that’s not all that’s left of the nonconference slate. This team will head to Madison Square Garden on December 10th, playing Michigan as part of the Jimmy V Classic. That contest is the last major challenge, though a December 30th matchup with Oakland should be intriguing after those Golden Grizzlies handed Calipari his final loss at Kentucky.

SEC play begins just as the calendar turns over, with the Razorbacks heading to Tennessee on January 4th in a rough opening act. While the conference grew this offseason, Arkansas will now see just five of their league opponents both home and on the road, with new league member Texas among that group.

Conference play features tough outings each night, especially on the road. A highly-anticipated matchup comes February 1st as Calipari returns to Kentucky for Arkansas’s only matchup with the Wildcats. A week later they get their only shot at Alabama at home, though unluckily face Auburn and Texas A&M only away from home. Senior night is the regular season finale and comes March 8th against Mississippi State.
