For all intents and purposes, the 2026 college basketball recruiting class is wrapped up, with 99% of the available prospects having committed. That means the attention and focus of both the coaching staffs and fans/media turns to the 2027 class.

Already, a big name came off the board in the past week, as 5-star guard prospect Ryan Hampton committed to the Kentucky Wildcats. There were whispers that he could reclassify to play this upcoming year, but for now, he’s staying with the 2027 group.

But Hampton wasn’t the only commit in the last week out of the 2027 class. Here’s a look at who else committed.

Iowa State lands top-100 forward Jack Kohnen

The Cyclones have been very busy to open the 2027 class, having already landed two top-50 prospects in 6’7 forward Donovan Davis and 6’6 wing Josiah Harrington. They added another forward to the class in Kohnen, a 6’6 prospect out of the state of Wisconsin (same as Davis).

He’s a talented scorer, averaging over 20 ppg and 11 rpg in his last year of high school, capable of scoring at all three levels. Iowa State added multiple wings and small forwards, such as Ryan Prather Jr. and Leon Bond, entering their senior years, so there’s a pathway for the future forwards the team is adding to get early playing time.

With Kohnen, Iowa State now has the No. 1 class for 2027.

Three-star forward Keller Daugherty picks Iowa

Iowa State’s rival also got a commitment in the last week, landing the 6’10 power forward prospect. Daugherty averaged over 14 ppg in high school and has a good face-up game, capable of shooting and handling the ball on the perimeter.

The consensus three-star player is the first commit for Iowa in the class. Cam Manyawu will move on after this year, and in an ideal world, Daugherty can back up Cooper Koch in the frontcourt to continue giving the Hawkeyes depth.

Calipari lands another top-50 prospect in Davion Thompson

Arkansas was a big winner last week, beating out Baylor, Michigan, and Vanderbilt to get Thompson. He’s ranked in the top-25 and on the path toward five-star status as one of the top ball-handlers in the draft who can score at a high clip.

The Razorbacks’ two lead guards next season include five-star prospect Jordan Smith and Jeremiah Wilkinson, a potential NBA Draft candidate. One of them will likely be gone a year from now, giving Thompson a likely good path to get early playing time as a freshman.

Unless, he decides to reclassify.
