Baylor Basketball: 2024-25 season preview for the Bears
By Joey Loose
Projected Starters
Guard – Jeremy Roach (Senior)
One of the staff’s major transfer additions, Roach comes to Baylor after spending four seasons at Duke, starting more than 100 games. He played in the Final Four as a sophomore and became a major contributor as an upperclassman, putting up 14.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game last year as a senior. Now Roach slides into the point for the Bears, providing leadership and veteran experience for this squad.
Guard – Jayden Nunn (Senior)
Nunn is a Michigan native who spent his first two seasons building into a solid player at VCU. He transferred to Baylor last offseason and averaged 10.5 points per game as a junior. Nunn made 44% of his 3-pointers and certainly looks to build on that role in this upcoming season, with the ability to play both roles in the backcourt. The metrics look good, as his steals numbers also stand out.
Guard – VJ Edgecombe (Freshman)
There’s no question that Edgecombe was the major recruiting win for Drew’s staff. A 5-star combo guard considered one of the top recruits in the nation, Edgecombe has a great feel for the game and could transition into a serious weapon very quickly for the Bears. He’s an explosive shooter, has a nice touch around the court and a high basketball IQ.
Guard – Langston Love (Junior)
A Top 40 prospect from three years ago, Love has shown great potential off the bench for the Bears in his first two seasons but likely carves out a bigger role as a junior. He averaged 11.0 points and 2.9 rebounds in 24 games last season, making 48% of his 3-pointers as well. Injuries have really limited his chances early in his career, though Love projects as someone who can make a big jump this season.
Forward – Norchad Omier (Senior)
Omier spent a pair of seasons each at Arkansas State and Miami and now arrives at Baylor for his fifth and final season of eligibility. Formerly Sun Belt Player of the Year, he earned two All-ACC honors and helped take the Hurricanes to the Final Four. Omier is an elite rebounder and is coming off a season where he averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds, obviously making him an insane pull for the Bears from the Transfer Portal.
