March Madness always gives us moments that stop time.

The kind where an entire arena holds its breath. The kind where the ball leaves a player’s hands and, for a split second, everything stands still.

Friday night in Kansas City, Jaden Bradley gave college basketball one of those moments.

And in doing so, the Arizona guard reminded everyone exactly why he was named Big 12 Player of the Year.

The shot everyone will be talking about

Arizona and Iowa State had already delivered one of the best games of Championship Week.

The two teams traded shots down the stretch inside the T-Mobile Center. Every possession felt heavier than the last. Every basket carried the tension of a season hanging in the balance.

With the game tied 80-80 and the clock ticking down, Arizona trusted the ball to Bradley.

No timeout. No complicated play.

Just their leader.

Bradley dribbled toward the baseline, rose over a defender and released a fading jumper as the buzzer sounded. The shot dropped through the net, sending Arizona to an 82-80 win and the Big 12 Tournament championship game.

For a split second there was silence.

Then the Wildcats erupted.

It was the first buzzer-beater in the Big 12 Tournament since 2015 and instantly one of the defining highlights of this year’s conference tournament season.

And it was must-see basketball.

Bradley proved why coaches voted him Big 12 player of the year

When Bradley was named Big 12 Player of the Year earlier this week, some people were surprised.

His numbers are solid but not overwhelming. He doesn’t lead the conference in scoring. He isn’t chasing gaudy stat lines every night.

But moments like Friday night explain everything.

Bradley finished with 15 points and seven assists, controlling the tempo of the game and making the biggest play when Arizona needed it most. He also hit a clutch jumper with 45 seconds left to give the Wildcats the lead before delivering the game-winner.

That’s the value coaches see.

Leadership. Control. Composure when the moment is biggest.

Those qualities don’t always show up in the box score.

But they show up in moments like that.

Arizona survived a heavyweight fight

The game itself was a battle from start to finish.

Iowa State jumped out early and pushed Arizona throughout the night behind a massive performance from Milan Momcilovic, who scored 28 points and drilled eight three-pointers.

Arizona answered with a barrage of its own.

Anthony Dell’Orso was sensational, scoring 26 points and hitting six threes. Ivan Kharchenkov added 17 points and five assists while Tobe Awaka recorded another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Even with that production, the game still came down to Bradley.

That is often how March works.

A chaotic, high-level game eventually lands in the hands of the player built for the moment.

Friday night, that player was Bradley.

Arizona now one win away from a Big 12 title

The victory pushed Arizona to 31-2 on the season and into the Big 12 Tournament championship game.

Waiting for them will be either Houston or Kansas, two programs that know exactly how dangerous Arizona has been this year.

The Wildcats already look like a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Their balance, defense and shot-making have made them one of the most complete teams in college basketball.

But Friday night showed something even more important.

They have a closer.

Because when the biggest moment of the game arrived, the Big 12 Player of the Year didn’t hesitate.

He delivered a shot that will be replayed all weekend across college basketball.

And if Arizona makes a deep March run, it might be remembered as the moment the Wildcats announced they were ready for it.
