Big 12 power rankings: Arizona holds top spot as Kansas surges entering mid-February

The Big 12 continues to prove it is college basketball’s most unforgiving league. With February in full swing and postseason positioning at stake, every possession feels like it carries NCAA Tournament implications.

There are no quiet weeks in this conference. The margin between fourth and ninth is razor thin, the bottom tier is fighting for pride, and the top three are staring at a brutal stretch that could define seeding in March. From Arizona trying to bounce back to Kansas riding momentum and Houston looming with its defense, this league remains a weekly reshuffle waiting to happen.

Big 12 power rankings through games Wednesday, February 11, 2026

Without further ado, here are the latest Big 12 power rankings.

16. Kansas State Wildcats (10-14, 1-10 Big 12)

It feels like this one has unraveled. Jerome Tang’s group was blown out at home by Cincinnati by 29 points Wednesday, dropping its fifth straight game. At 1-10 in league play, Kansas State has not shown the fight needed to survive in this conference. The lone league win came against Utah, but even that has not sparked anything. A road trip to Houston on Saturday only adds to the uphill climb.

15. Utah Utes (9-15, 1-10 Big 12)

Utah owns the fewest overall wins in the league and has dropped six straight since beating TCU for its only conference victory. Terrence Brown is pouring in 20.8 points per game, but the collective consistency has not been there. Road games at Cincinnati and West Virginia are next. Neither presents an easy opportunity to stop the slide.

14. Baylor Bears (13-11, 3-9 Big 12)

Few teams have underachieved more than Baylor. After briefly stabilizing with wins over West Virginia and Colorado, the Bears dropped games at Iowa State and at home to BYU. At 3-9 in league play, the margin for error is gone. Scott Drew’s team steps out of conference Saturday to host Louisville, but the bigger issue is repairing its Big 12 résumé.

13. Arizona State Sun Devils (13-12, 4-8 Big 12)

Bobby Hurley’s group has won two of its last three, including a home win over Oklahoma State. Still, the overall body of work leaves Arizona State on the outside looking in. A matchup at Texas Tech on February 17 looms large, followed by road tests at Baylor and TCU. The next two weeks will determine if this team has real staying power.

12. Colorado Buffaloes (14-11, 4-8 Big 12)

A 34-point loss at Texas Tech marked Colorado’s eighth defeat in its last 10 games. The Buffaloes have struggled badly away from home and now head to BYU before returning home to face Oklahoma State and Kansas State. Defensive lapses and inconsistent scoring have defined this recent stretch.

11. Oklahoma State Cowboys (16-8, 5-7 Big 12)

The Cowboys can score with anyone, averaging nearly 85 points per game behind Anthony Roy’s 17.7 per contest. The problem has been defense. They have allowed at least 84 points in each of their last three losses. With TCU and Kansas coming to Stillwater, this is a defining stretch for their NCAA Tournament hopes.

10. Cincinnati Bearcats (13-12, 4-8 Big 12)

Cincinnati showed life by averaging over 91 points in back-to-back wins, including the blowout at Kansas State. But 12 losses leave little room for comfort. Utah visits next, followed by road trips to Kansas and Texas Tech. If the Bearcats want to enter the bubble conversation, this is where it begins.

9. West Virginia Mountaineers (15-9, 6-5 Big 12)

West Virginia has managed to stay above water. A narrow home loss to Texas Tech followed a win over Cincinnati, reflecting the fine margins in this league. Road games at UCF and TCU are critical before returning home to face Utah. A 2-1 stretch would significantly boost positioning.

8. TCU Horned Frogs (15-9, 5-6 Big 12)

TCU may have the best recent win in the conference, holding Iowa State to 55 points in a 62-55 victory. The Horned Frogs closed on a 12-0 run and now sit at 5-6 in league play. Road trips to Oklahoma State and UCF are next. Their defense gives them a chance every night.

7. UCF Knights (17-6, 6-5 Big 12)

Back-to-back losses at Houston and Cincinnati slowed the momentum, but UCF remains in solid shape for March. Home games against West Virginia and TCU provide an opportunity to reset before tricky road trips to Utah and BYU. The margin for error is smaller than it looks.

6. BYU Cougars (18-6, 6-5 Big 12)

After dropping four straight, BYU appears to have steadied itself. The Cougars rank among the nation’s top scoring teams at over 86 points per game. Colorado visits next, followed by a road trip to Arizona and a home showdown with Iowa State. The offense can carry them, but defensive consistency remains the question.

5. Texas Tech Red Raiders (18-6, 7-4 Big 12)

Texas Tech is peaking at the right time. A 34-point demolition of Colorado followed a road win at West Virginia. JT Toppin and Christian Anderson combine for more than 40 points per game and have formed one of the league’s most dangerous duos. A massive road game at Arizona awaits.

4. Iowa State Cyclones (21-3, 9-3 Big 12)

The loss at TCU was jarring, especially scoring just 55 points and surrendering a 12-0 run late. Still, Iowa State remains firmly in the title hunt. Kansas comes to town next in a revenge spot, followed by a Big Monday clash with Houston. This is the stretch that could define their ceiling.

3. Houston Cougars (22-2, 10-2 Big 12)

Kelvin Sampson’s group has won five straight since its lone league loss at Texas Tech. Houston’s defense and physicality continue to set the tone, with Kingston Flemings impacting both ends of the floor. Kansas State visits next, but the upcoming trio of Iowa State, Arizona and Kansas will test their championship credentials.

2. Kansas Jayhawks (19-5, 8-4 Big 12)

Bill Self’s team has won eight straight, including a statement victory over previously unbeaten Arizona in Lawrence. The early January stumble is a distant memory. A trip to Iowa State is next, followed by games at Oklahoma State and later matchups with Houston and Arizona. Kansas looks like a team built for March.

1. Arizona Wildcats (23-1, 10-1 Big 12)

The 23-game win streak ended in Lawrence, but Arizona remains the standard in the Big 12. The résumé is loaded with quality wins, and the margin for first place remains slim. Texas Tech comes to Tucson next, then BYU, Houston and Baylor follow. The final stretch will reveal whether this group can finish what it started.

What makes the Big 12 so compelling is that nothing stays settled. A single road win can shift the standings, and one cold shooting night can undo weeks of progress. With March approaching, every team still has something at stake, and the reshuffling is far from over.
