There are just two unbeaten teams remaining in the Big 12, and the league once again looks like one of the deepest and most competitive conferences in college basketball.
Big 12 Power Rankings: Conference Depth on Full Display
The top tier can go head-to-head with any league in the country, while the middle remains crowded and volatile. A few strong wins helped solidify the top spots this week, while some rough losses near the bottom continue to raise questions.
Here are the updated Big 12 power rankings as the conference season approaches.
1. Arizona Wildcats (9-0)
Arizona continues to justify its status as the top-ranked team in the country. The Wildcats were tested early by Alabama, but completely took over in the second half to secure a convincing 21-point win. They are averaging 89.3 points per game while allowing just 68, a balance that has separated them nationally.
Arizona will host Abilene Christian before welcoming San Diego State, with Big 12 play beginning January 3 on the road against Utah.
2. Iowa State Cyclones (10-0)
If there were a clear 1A behind Arizona, Iowa State would be it. The Cyclones are one of the few remaining unbeaten teams nationally, highlighted by a blowout road win at Purdue and a hard-fought rivalry victory over Iowa.
Joshua Jefferson has been a centerpiece, averaging 18.2 points in heavy minutes. Iowa State is scoring 91.7 points per game while allowing just 64.3, making them elite on both ends. Conference play opens January 2 at home against West Virginia.
