Villanova’s offseason grade a year ago would’ve been around a “B” or “C”. That’s what made Caoch Kevin Willards’s first season so successful, overachieving with many mid-major transfers. There are some more coming in the backcourt, but keeping leading scorer Perkins as the lead guard is great news, overcoming losing freshman Lewis to the portal.
The frontcourt is where the big names come. Royal is a multi-year starter at Ohio State, while Evans is coming off a breakthrough year at Oregon. The former five-star prospect struggled at the start of his career but has turned into an all-league caliber player.
The recent addition of Suigo, who had a shot at being a first-round pick in this year’s NBA Draft, is the cherry on top. He gives Villanova a legit center and now, one of, if not the best, frontcourts in the Big East.
