After arguably the most disappointing campaign of any Big East Basketball team this past year, things could’ve really gone bad for Marquette this offseason. But they more than steadied the ship; they added to it. The most important decision was star freshman and leading scorer/passer James re-committing to the program early on.
Other key retaining pieces include Parham and Stevens, with retention remaining a key aspect of the program. But unlike the last two offseasons, Coach Shaka Smart did use the transfer portal, landing two likely starters in Minessale and Fru.
James will be one of the five best players in the Big East next year, and with a better supporting cast, Marquette should get back to being close to the top tier rather than the bottom.
