Creighton: a tad underrated

The Creighton Blue Jays are in the middle of this poll at the 15th spot, which is a good place to be in, but this can be a top-10 team at some point this season. The Blue Jays did lose Baylor Scheierman, but plenty of this roster is back, including yet another year of Ryan Kalkbrenner.

The teams ahead of Creighton have great cases themselves to be ahead of the Blue Jays, but it is surprising to see them outside the top 12 even. Do not be surprised if their ranking is a single-digit number by Thanksgiving.

Marquette cannot complain about their spot

While the Marquette Golden Eagles have become consistent top dogs in the Big East, it is still unclear exactly how this team will replace the production of Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro. The voters recognized this, and they are on the border of being outside the top 20, but they still feel a bit high in these rankings, all things considered.

We will be able to tell just how good the Golden Eagles are pretty early into the year, and Shaka Smart is too good of a coach to discount, but 18 is lower than their personal expectations. With other teams bringing in transfers left and right while Marquette keeps a lot of this in-house, it is difficult to tell how good they are until the season begins.

But when you look at the rest of the Big East, two teams may be able to claim they are better than Marquette and maybe deserve a spot themselves.
