Considering last season’s roster was filled with all mid-major players, Coach Richard Pitino’s first year in the Big East didn’t go too badly. He learned his lesson this offseason, landing a bunch of impact high-major players early. Nwoko was one of the first bigs off the market, while Washington and Dominguez are two quality pieces also from the high-major ranks.
With Milicevic back, Xavier’s frontcourt should be one of the better ones in the Big East. Assuming Westry can remain healthy, he’ll be a good wing replacement for Carroll. We’ll see if the younger Pitino can make his mark in the conference and move up the ladder but this should be an improved unit overall.
