Just two seasons ago, the Ducks won 25 games and were ranked in the top 10 in the country. Now, they’re having to settle for reclamation projects. Losing Shelstad and Evans to the portal were huge blows, as they could’ve had a top-half roster to build around them had they stayed.
The two most proven players on the roster are Meadow and Riley, who come from non-high major programs. Guys like Bol Bowen and Compton are good role players but not stars.
What could turn this roster into an “A” grade is the young guys. Aristode, Johnson, and Easter are all former top-40 prospects who could be major sophomore breakout candidates. Plus, Ariza is a five-star guy in his own right and could be an impact guy out of the gate. There’s a high ceiling with this core of players, but it could also go as badly as last year did.
