A year ago, UCLA had one of the biggest transfer portal signings in former Mountain West Player of the Year, Dent. This time around, the program looked to hit more singles and doubles rather than home runs. The biggest name they added was Petty, who started 22 games as a freshman at Texas Tech and likely will start at point guard for the Bruins.
Ultimately, the key to the Bruins' offseason was who they could keep. Perry is set to be the lead guard and looks more than capable of that role. Dailey is a quality two-way forward, while Booker had some good moments in the frontcourt.
If either Jovicor or Macura breaks out in the frontcourt, UCLA’s depth will remain in a great spot. But there needs to be an all-league guy in order for them to reach their potential, and it’ll have to be Perry. Otherwise, they’re due for a drop-off.
