Yes, we’ve seen large groups of newcomers for Coach Eric Musselman that didn’t work out, including last season. Still, it’s hard not to be impressed with the roster, especially considering that the Trojans kept the top three players with eligibility. That includes Rice, who was on the path to being all-league in the Big Ten before his season-ending injury.
There’s plenty of talent in the supporting cast, including a proven high-major starter in Lewis, along with a trio of mid-major transfers who averaged 15+ ppg. With them, along with Rice and Arenas, it’s a roster with some of the deepest depth in all of the Big Ten.
The frontcourt is key, with Cofie back from the NBA Draft process and joined by Reibe, a former top-40 center prospect at UConn. He, the Ratliff brothers, and Collins make up a frontcourt with plenty of potential but also unproven. If Musselman can’t make this roster a top-25 group, then he could end up on the hot seat.
