The results didn’t work out, but Washington did have one of the more talented rosters in the Big Ten last year. The only key piece left is Yates, a solid league player but not a focal point on a winning roster. However, based on who the team has added, he’s clearly the best player.
Watts is a good forward coming over from Texas Tech, while Beasley shot over 40% from deep as a freshman at San Francisco. Venters is a former Big Sky Player of the Year, but injuries have set him back.
Replacing Steinbach was always going to be difficult, but the Huskies didn’t add any proven frontcourt guys, unless Watts is going to play some small-ball four. They’ll need Braga to have a big impact out of the gate inside to be competitive, but it’s hard to envision things going well for Coach Danny Sprinkle.
