Last year, Indiana got an “A” from many folks after its portal haul. Ultimately, the season was barely a “C”, missing out on the NCAA Tournament. But if we’re just focusing on this year, it’s still a very good haul.
The difference is the proven high-major frontcourt players that the Hoosiers were able to land. Yigitoglu and Sherrell are two of the better forwards in the country, and Indiana getting them both is massive. There’s not a ton of depth behind them, but assuming they’re healthy, they will be a good duo to compete against the top teams.
The backcourt is where the team will have depth, with Burton leading the way. He’s been one of the top scorers in the ACC for years and will replace Wilkerson as the lead guard. If Harris breaks out on the wings, then Indiana will be much improved overall. The only thing stopping Indiana from a full “A” is the defensive concerns with some of the pickups, such as Burton and Yigitoglu.
