It’s been a busy offseason for Kansas Basketball when it came to rebuilding its roster. The team lost eight of its top five scorers, including the entire starting lineup. That included stars such as Dajuan Harris Jr. and Hunter Dickinson.

The Jayhawks weren’t completely void of talent, adding a trio of transfers from the portal. They were Jayden Dawson (Loyola Chicago), Melvin Council Jr. (St. Bonaventure), and Tre White (Illinois), while also adding a top-10 incoming freshman class, led by top-3 overall prospect and 5-star guard, Darryn Peterson.

That being said, Kansas reportedly took some recruiting losses as well. They were in the mix for Texas Tech transfer Darrion Williams and 5-star guard Dame Sarr, but those two opted to go to NC State and Duke, respectively. That left a couple of spots open on the roster, which the Jayhawks were able to fill.

Kohl Rosario is a 6’5 shooting guard and top-50 prospect who decided to reclass to join Kansas. Teams such as Oregon and Duke were reportedly in the mix, but the Jayhawks got a needed shooter who can play alongside Peterson in the backcourt. He can play both the two and three spots, giving Coach Bill Self some lineup flexibility.

Kansas had actually lost out on Paul Mbiya in the first go-around this offseason, with NC State landing him. However, after a couple of other frontcourt commitments to the Wolfpack, Mbiya became a free agent. The Jayhawks didn’t let him get away this time around, adding the 6’11 center prospect.

Mbiya is another big body that Kansas needed. He’ll play behind the team’s lone returning rotation piece from last season, Flory Bidunga. The team really lacked frontcourt depth at this point in the offseason, and there weren’t many ideal options that could play at the Big 12 level. Landing Mbiya was a significant win for the program, solidifying the roster for next season.
