SMU Mustangs (0-3 in Quad 1 Opportunities)

SMU has a solid overall record (12-4) and a NET ranking that is generally considered competitive for an at-large bid (46). The biggest hole in their resume is the lack of any quality wins. Their best win currently is a neutral court win over LSU.

While wins over SEC teams will generally be a positive because of how good the SEC was out of conference, the Mustangs will need to pick up some Quad 1 wins in ACC play to creep into the NCAA tournament conversation (ESPN currently has them in the "Next Four Out" category).

Unfortunately for them, they have already played (and lost) to Duke and North Carolina and won't play either team again this season. With the ACC being down this year, they currently only have two Quad 1 win opportunities left on their schedule. Mustangs fans should probably root for LSU, as the Tigers making a leap in the rankings might be SMU's best chance at getting a Quad 1 win short of meeting one of the ACC's better teams in the ACC Tournament.
