Texas (0-5 in Quad 1 Opportunities)

Texas wasted a golden (or burnt orange, anyway) opportunity to get off this list last Saturday night. Catching a No. 1 ranked Tennessee team coming off a demoralizing shellacking at the hands of Florida, the Longhorns hung with the Vols for most of the game and kept in within a possession or two. Ultimately, Tennessee made enough plays in the game's last four minutes to come away with the win and keep Texas winless in Quad 1 games.

Texas picked a heck of a year to join Southeaster Conference basketball play; the conference has been head and shoulders above the rest and every conference game at the moment will be a Quad 1 or Quad 2 game. Their record reflects this, as Texas has started out 0-3 in SEC games. Their 11-5 record and 42 NET ranking somewhat hides a resume that lacks any signature victories; currently their best win is a narrow Quad 2 win on the road over a mediocre NC State team.

The rest of their wins are all either Quad 3 or Quad 4 victories. The good news for Texas is the absolute glut of Quad 1 opportunities that await them in the rest of SEC play (11 at the time this article was written). The bad news is that means their remaining schedule is absolutely brutal, and losing too many games will hurt their NCAA tournament chances regardless of how good of quality those losses are.
