Trying to keep up with the transfer portal is an impossible task even for the elite reporters in college basketball but there have been some very notable moves here in the early days of its opening. We’ve seen some big names swap schools already as well as some upstart players hoping to make an impression in a big conference. Wes Enis is certainly one of those players who could really stand out next season.

A 6-2 guard out of Conover, Ohio, Enis starred at the D2 level at Lincoln Memorial for the first two years of his collegiate career, turning into quite the reliable scorer, shooter, and defender. This past season, he joined new head coach Bryan Hodgson at South Florida and immediately became an important piece of the puzzle in what would become a fantastic season for the Bulls.

Creighton lands South Florida transfer Wes Enis

As a starting guard this season, Enis put up 16.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while knocking down 35% of his 3-point attempts. His production earned First Team All-American honors during a season where he made over 100 3-pointers and showed reliability running the point.

Enis had a double-double in February and was a great weapon throughout the season, but he really peaked at the end of the season. A major weapon during South Florida’s long win streak, he was named the MVP of the American Tournament after leading the Bulls to the Big Dance for the first time since 2012. While these games didn’t compare to his 30-point efforts earlier in league play, he did average more than 20 points in the final month of the season including two great performances in that tournament.

Enis didn’t play well in South Florida’s Tournament loss to Louisville, but he’s already looking again to his next big challenge. With Hodgson leaving for Providence, Enis entered the portal and will also be suiting up in the Big East next season. Enis will join new head coach Alan Huss as he attempts to bring Creighton back into contention after what was a surprising down season for the Bluejays this past year.

Creighton will bring back Austin Swartz in the backcourt, but adding Enis is a major boost for this roster as they look to make waves in the Big East. In recent years, the Bluejays have had some very talented rosters and Huss is hoping that he can pull the necessary names to get Creighton back in that spot. Enis isn’t even the beginning, as they also added former Providence center Oswin Erhunmwunse, but things are certainly trending upwards after last year’s disappointment.
