Florida, Alabama, and other picks for men's college basketball big games tomorrow

It's the home stretch of the season and the games are starting to dwindle down but there are still huge games on Tuesday. The game of the night features two ranked SEC teams. The other big games feature bubble teams who are trying to win as many games as possible.

It is the last Tuesday in February, and the games are dwindling down as teams get ready for their conference tournaments. Championship Week starts on Sunday, but before that, there are a ton of ranked teams who play basketball on Tuesday, including one ranked vs ranked game in the SEC.

No. 3 Florida at Georgia

The Florida Gators are going to get a top seed in the NCAA tournament, and they are going to be a very trendy pick for the National Championship. Florida is very hard to prepare for, and when they are hitting, shots are almost impossible to beat. Their guards are elite on the offensive end, and outside of Alabama, the Gators play the fastest pace in the SEC. They run with everyone and always have five guys on the floor who can shoot, rebound, and pass. The Gators are a unique team that can turn games into a blowout quickly.

Georgia is currently on the bubble but is on the wrong side of the Bubble. The Bulldogs have not won enough games to warrant their selection into the field. It also doesn’t help that Georgia has currently lost 5 out 6 games in February. Georgia has an excellent chance to try and change their fortunes and find their way into the NCAA tournament with a strong finish, but they are going to need to beat Florida for their signature win. That task has proved futile in the league so far.

No 24. Mississippi State at No. 6 Alabama

Look at that yet another SEC game on a weeknight between two ranked teams. The Bulldogs were on a three-game winning streak before they took a loss on Saturday to Oklahoma. Mississippi State plays a brand of basketball that doesn’t look very good when they get sped up. They like to play at a slower pace and work the ball inside to their big men and then let point guard Josh Hubbard operate on an open floor. Oklahoma was able to speed Mississippi State up and hit a ton of threes to win the game on Saturday going away. The Bulldogs are susceptible to the three, which doesn’t bode well for their game with Alabama.

The Crimson Tide bounced back well on Saturday as they beat Kentucky by 13 points at Coleman. The Tide were better on defense but still gave up 83 points. Alabama is the highest-scoring team in the country, and they will get out and run, shoot a ton of threes, and get to the line at an elite level. If the Tide are making threes, they can make this game a blowout quickly. The SEC has a fantastic game every night, and the Tide are still shooting for a top seed in the NCAA tournament. They must keep winning games. Alabama closes with three top 5 teams after their game with Mississippi State, and two of them are on the road.

New Mexico at San Diego State

The Lobos are currently in first place in the Mountain West and are on the bubble if they don’t earn the auto bid. Every win is important for the Lobos, and with their roster, they have been able to win a lot of games this year and look the part of an NCAA tournament team. Donovan Dent is the most electric point guard in the Mountain West and leads one of the best offenses in the country. New Mexico is very scary when they get into the tournament because of their ability to play fast and put as much pressure on their defense as possible.

San Diego State is a bubble team, which is a weird sentence to write given the Aztecs' dominance over the Mountain West Conference for the past two decades. The transfer portal in the offseason destroyed San Diego State and even head coach Brian Dutcher has had a hard time building a roster that is up to normal Aztec standards. If the field were selected today, the Aztecs would be in but not on very solid ground. They need to win as many games as possible, and a win against New Mexico would be a tremendous start and give great momentum heading into the last week of the season.

Here are the rest of the games from the rest of Super Tuesday.
