Key Reserves

Forward – Sam Alexis (Junior)

Alexis joins the Gators after spending his first two seasons playing ball at Chattanooga. He rose into an All-SoCon player in year two, averaging 10.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game last season. Alexis was a significant asset for the Mocs during a 21-win season and his rim protection ability makes him an attractive addition to Florida’s revamped frontcourt.

Guard – Urban Klavzar (Freshman)

A 6’1 point guard from Slovenia, Klavzar was the final piece of the puzzle for the Gators this past offseason. An international prospect with intriguing shooting ability, there’s hope that he can develop into a useful weapon at the point after success over in Europe. Expect decent minutes from him if he can retain the keen shooting touch that was on display in Slovenia.

Forward – Thomas Haugh (Sophomore)

Thus begins Haugh’s second season at Florida, and it’s a sophomore season that’ll have heightened expectations. The power forward didn’t have a ton of run last season, averaging 3.9 points and 3.7 rebounds mostly as a backup to Tyrese Samuel. The depth chart looks different and Haugh could earn a more significant role after a year in Golden’s system.

Guard – Denzel Aberdeen (Junior)

The Gators didn’t get a ton from Aberdeen in his first two collegiate seasons, though there’s reason to believe he could have greater contributions this season. As a sophomore, he put up 3.3 points per game with a decent shooting touch and should get more minutes as a reserve wing. He moves up the depth chart and could earn even more time in the spotlight should he improve his efficiency.

Guard – Isaiah Brown (Freshman)

Florida’s highest ranked new freshman, Brown is a 6’4 guard out of Orlando who could factor into the equation early this season. Brown is a fluid athlete who can contribute from both backcourt positions, with playmaking ability and a high basketball IQ. We’ll have to see what kind of role he plays as he adjusts to the collegiate game, though he’s certainly a gem for the future.

Center – Olivier Rioux (Freshman)

Unquestionably one of the most notable offseason additions in the SEC, Rioux wasn’t a highly-rated recruit but his size and stature gives him plenty of attention. At 7’9, he’s one of the tallest collegiate athletes we’ve ever seen and obviously has impressive rebounding and shot blocking ability. There’s still plenty of work to do with his game, needing to improve his athleticism to become a standout center.
